Committees are created to plan events. Without them the club cannot hold successful events. Committee members will meet virtually to discuss the event, create and assign a list of tasks and obtain updates. They will also attend the events to coordinate/assist with set up, tear down and running the event. Each event is different so the tasks, time and effort require varies.
Unless otherwise stated committees are open to all active CONDC members (ex. Fun Day).
Committees must be comprised of a minimum of 5 people:
The CONDC President is automatically a member of every committee. The President does not have to be the Chair of the committee.
For the NDCC Water Rescue Test the Chair, Test Secretary and Chief Steward must be an active member of the NDCC.
For CKC approved events (ex. Draft Test) the Chair, Secretary* and 3 members must be members of the NDCC. If there are more than 5 people on the committee the additional members do not need to be members of the NDCC.
*For the National Specialty a Professional Show Secretary may be used.
The CONDC puts together committees as needed for the events they plan to hold each year. The types of committees vary but in general they could be:
Committees report back to the CONDC Board on a regular basis.
The Working Committee determines what working events will be held during the year and coordinates instructors, locations and content. The Working Committee also coordinates the working seminars and weekly training practices. The Working Dog Chair submits the applications to host the various events being held to the NDCC for approval and coordinates obtaining facility/instructor contracts and insurance certificates (if required).
The CONDC Working Dog Chair is the Chair of this committee.
Members of the 2026 Working Committee are:
Chair: Tami Koehle
Committee Members: June Ward, Michelle Meandro, Peggy Flockhart and Ron Schurtz
The CONDC is very luck to have 3 Draft and Water Test Judges as members of our club serving on our working committee. The Judges also have experience trialing in other CKC sports and their knowledge is very valuable.
The Fun Day Committee coordinates the activities (ex. games, obstacle course) that will be held at the event and arranges for the necessary supplies for the BBQ. Members will run the games and put together the prizes that will be handed out to the winners.
The CONDC Membership Director is the Chair of this committee.
The Test and Trial Committees will coordinate the locations, dates, Judges and Stewards needed for the event. They are responsible for submitting specific event applications forms (NDCC & CKC), creating premium lists (used for entry information) and catalogues (contains the entrant information for the day of the event).
The Secretary will keep track of the entries, hand out the catalogues and armbands on the day of the test/trial and coordinate move ups if an entrant has successfully passed.
The Chief Steward is responsible for assigning the steward roles and ensuring they know what they are responsible for.
Specific tasks will vary based on the type of test/trial and are explained in the associated rules and regulations document. Refer to the NDCC (Water Tests only) or CKC (all other tests/trials) websites for the details.
The National Specialty Committee will:
The Donation Committee is part of the National Specialty event. They will coordinate obtaining donations of items for the Registration Bags, Regional Baskets and Auction. They are also responsible for putting together the Registration Bags and managing the Auction.
